Urmantauskaya Cave (Ust-Atavskaya)

It is located on the left bank of the Ust-Kanda Stream (a tributary of the Yuryuzan River), 200 m west of the R242 highway. Section of the Bashkir stage of the carboniferous system. Limestone outcrops of the Syuran substage.

Karst, formed in limestones of the Arta stage of the lower Permian.

It is a maze of canyon-and tunnel-like corridors of north-western and north-eastern extent. The longest cave of the Ufa plateau, its length is 621 m, depth is 36 m, average width is 2 m, average height is 3.7 m, area is 1004 m2.

The entrance (1 m wide, 1.5 m high)is located in an elongated sinkhole.

The cave itself is a 2-level maze of corridors connected by ledges and wells.
The floor is covered with clay and rubble; there are many sedimentary formations in the form of recrystallized bark, stalactites and stalagmites.
The cave is dry, and ice remains in the entrance area until summer.
The Urmantau cave (Ust-Atavskaya-1) is home to bats.

The cave was discovered by chance in the 60s of the XX century, when a local resident fell into it. In the course of further research, a primitive human site was discovered here.
