It is a maze of canyon- and tunnel-like corridors with a north-western and north-eastern extension. The longest cave of the Ufa plateau, its length is 621 m, depth is 36 m, average width is 2 m, average height is 3.7 m, area is 1004 m2.
The entrance (1 m wide, 1.5 m high) is located in an elongated sinkhole.
The cave itself is a 2-level maze of corridors connected by ledges and wells.
The floor is covered with clay and rubble; there are many flow formations in the form of recrystallized bark, stalactites and stalagmites.
The cave is dry, and ice remains in the entrance area until summer.
Bats live in the Urmantau cave (Ust-Atavskaya-1).
The cave was discovered by chance in the 60s of the XX century, when a local resident fell into it. In the course of further research, a site of primitive man was discovered here.
