On August 23, the Yangan-Tau Geopark hosted the Opeonok (Armillaria) mushroom festival at the Yangan-Tau Sanatorium. The guests of the festival got acquainted with mushroom culture in various aspects: scientific, gastronomic, literary.
The aim of the festival is to popularize knowledge about mushrooms and their beneficial daily presence in the life of each person.The program of the festival included a lecture from a biologist of the geopark, educational and entertainment games, mushroom picking contest and children's drawing contest, mushroom food court (guests tasted borscht with mushrooms and pizza with mushrooms), music program and fair.
Fifteen people took part in the contest to collect mushrooms, which gathered more than 11 kilograms of mushrooms in half an hour. In the nomination "The smallest mushroom" the winner was Tatyana Dyukova, in the nomination "The biggest mushroom" - Tatyana Shalonina, "The most unusual mushroom" - Liliya Karimova and "The largest number of edible mushrooms" - Ivan Mitrofanov. Part of the mushrooms collected was a gift for the employees of the sanatorium, who held the event, and went for recycling.
In the competition of children's drawings about mushrooms in the categories "The brightest mushroom", "The most fantastic mushroom", "The most appetizing mushroom" and "Mushroom family" the winners were: Shakirov Iskander, Ovchinnikova Katya, Abdulgalimova Valya and Alkina Evelina
