"Great" Yakhinsky wall
During preparation for the photo tour of the participants of the XXVII International action “Bashkortostan. Nature. Person. Culture-2017 ”Maksuda Khatmullovna, a resident of the village of Yakhya Sayfutdinova, showed us one interesting sight of the Salavatsky district of the republic: the“ Great ”Yakhinskaya wall. It was amazing to see the remains of a stone fence that once separated the village from the railway. According to our guide, this wall was built during the construction of the Samara-Zlatoust railway. On its construction used stones from hacked tunnels in the mountain near the village. “Tashkherte,” as the Yakhins call it, was needed in order to protect children and animals from getting on the railway tracks. Maksuda Khatmullovna said that during her childhood, in the 60s of the last century, she and her friends sat on this fence and counted the cars of trains passing by. She especially remembered passing trains with soldiers who, in response to bouquets of flowers thrown by their children, threw apples. The wall was not solid, in three places there was a gate through which the Yakhins went to the river Berdash for water and swim. The stone fence lasted more than a kilometer and was up to two meters high, but over time it began to collapse. Later, because of the uselessness of the locals began to disassemble it on the foundations of houses. But even what now remains of the Great Wall will be interesting to see the residents and guests of the Yangan-Tau geopark.
